If you use Google Slides (or Docs, or Miro, or Mural, etc.) as a collaborative space during your virtual synchronous sessions, I have found it really helpful to provide participants with a few items beforehand so that they feel ready to interact on both your video platform, and on the shared collaborative space simultaneously. (If you are not familiar with this method of virtual facilitation, check out this video where I explain it and model some opening activities).
- This slide can be sent ahead of time as an illustration of how to get set up. I also like to include it at the top of any slides I share.
- I invite participants to watch this short video if they’ve never used Zoom before, which goes over some of the controls we will be using and can help them get oriented.
- I also like to share this video by Terri Philips that explains how to split your screen so that you see Zoom on one side, and the shared virtual platform on the other.
I also invite participants to show up a few minutes early to get settled in and so that I can help anyone who may be struggling with technical issues!
Hopefully these are useful for you! Feel free to add more in the comments or send any along that you have used or made so I can share them forward.
